  研究人员在使用谷歌地图时,无意间在埃及撒哈拉沙漠发现了一个迄今保存最完好的陨石坑,虽历经数千年,撞击的痕迹仍清晰可见。

  据美国《国家地理杂志》网站报道,今年2月,一个由埃及和意大利的专家组成的研究小组在使用谷歌地球时意外发现了位于撒哈拉沙漠偏远地区的巨大陨石坑。近日,研究小组抵达陨石坑现场。经测量,陨石坑的最宽处达45米,最深处距离地面16米。基于以上数据,研究人员估测,撞击地球的流星重约5000至10000公斤,直径仅有1.3米,但坠落速度超过每秒3.5公里。

  最令研究人员惊讶的是,陨石坑还保留着原始的面貌。一般来说,陨石坑在大自然的“破坏”下都会逐渐受到侵蚀或直接被掩埋,但是该陨石坑撞击的痕迹仍清晰可见。这一不寻常的现象常见于大气稀薄的其他星体,比如月球,而非人类居住的地球。

  研究人员估计,这个陨石坑形成于数千年前,可能是迄今保存最完好的陨石坑之一。(李杰)
